Loud and not proud

Sometimes it is not easy, being proud of your own country, especially if politics like this ugly thing are going on. Come on, Austria is one of the richest countries in the world, does it really have to be that way? I really feel ashamed about such stuff. One can only hope that Mrs. Haubner and the whole other incompentent bunch from the BZÖ (damnit, she used to be a teacher for needlework) will be replaced as soon as possible. Unfortunately, I don't get much of the media reaction and the people's reaction here, but I fear there's not a big blow about it.

Lost in...navigation?

Since a few days I can observe (or better hear) a weird thing going on in the frontyard of my dorm. Every night around eleven I hear birds starting to chirp all over the place. That phenomenon is going on till the early morning hours (which I noticed because I stood up at 0730, a very uncommon thing for me). I don't know why they don't chirp during the day, probably they have to go to work :-) or just sleep. I'm not exactly an ornithologist, but wheren't they supposed to be on holiday somewhere in the south at that time of the year?

What evil lurks in the dark behind this sinister thing? Is it just another implication of the phenomena we know as "El Nino"? Is it due to globalization, maybe other birds, who do the job in the south for less payment? Or is it just a different species of birds, who are just accustomed to the temperatures here (although it's not that different from the one's we have in Austria, at least here down in the south)

Feel free to elucidate me!

Some rules that must be obeyed when attending a sittning:

As a humble exchange student, i try to obey these laws but also don't omit to force the restrictions upon myself. This can lead to really funny sittnings.

in search of a haircut...

last time i went to the hairdresser here in Lund i found it somewhat difficult at first to find a place, took me like ages... today when i went downtown again, i realized that i must have been somehow drugged (or was it a hangover?) because whilst going through the streets today i came across like 25 hairdressers...

no kidding, this city has got to have the highest denisity of hairdressers in the whole world, at least on ratio compared to its inhabitants. followed closely by coffee bars and boutiques (well, thats pretty common, isn't it?). But still, i wasn't able to get an appointment this week, have to wait for next week...

tonight i'll be going to a danko jones concert here, thx to Stef from Ephen Rian who brought me on the guestlist, yeah, that's on of the merits if you know tomorrow's rock stars :-)

insomnia

haven't been able to sleep more than 3 to 4 consecutive hours the last couple of days, which leaves me looking a bit like a racoon, that's probably because i'm missing out on that sound sleep. either that is because it now gets dark around 3ish here or it's just too many thoughts going around my brain these days. well, it hasn't been the best of news recently but i guess everyone has to deal with those at some point...

besides that its just everyday life at the moment which meanly means university at the moment, new courses started, which means a lot of reading

wow, just came across the news that austria will be the next victim of schasha baron cohe (al g, bora, etc)... he also has a guy how's called bruno... the guy how reports from orfj... wow, 42,5 millon $... i wonder what he will make up of our country?
